Job Summary

Under limited supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to assist financial advisors with fixed income proposals, reviews, general strategies, as well as any other fixed income related questions and/or requests via printed publication, electronic media and personal presentation. Guidance is provided to perform varied, complex, activities that require evaluation, originality and ingenuity in making moderately complex decisions. Regular contact with internal customers is required to obtain, clarify and provide information or plan, coordinate or advise on projects. In addition to working with financial advisors, manage various technology platforms used within the department, including working with internal associates on how to best utilize technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take incoming calls from advisors and assist in any fixed-income related questions or help that they need. Products supported include: corporate bonds, municipal bonds, preferred stocks, Treasuries, agencies, brokered CDs, and mortgage-backed securities.

  • Assist advisors in learning and navigating the various fixed income systems (primarily BondDesk Trading and Portfolio Solutions). This includes how to: search for securities, place trades, run reports, and find information on securities.

  • Perform reviews of fixed income securities and portfolios as requested.

  • Assist in creating fixed income proposals as requested.

  • Assist in business development and helping new advisors and trainees familiarize themselves with the resources of the fixed income department.

  • Assist in the creation, publication, and distribution of fixed income marketing materials.

  • Design, maintain and run various reports for the Fixed Income department as needed.

  • Maintains records and files as needed.

  • May use computer modeling techniques.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Company’s working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.

  • Advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of Fixed Income.

  • Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.

  • Financial markets and products.

  • Strong analytical and statistical modeling tools and techniques.

  • Concepts of lifetime value and return on investment (ROI).

  • Customer analysis and profiling; market segmentations; program tracking and evaluation; and test design market data analysis.

  • Advanced concepts and practices of competitive intelligence.

  • Principles and practices of and customer service.

Skill in

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software including email, graphics, presentation, spreadsheet, database and project management software including HTML and PDF document formatting.

  • Analyzing service/product postures.

  • Maintaining databases.

  • Communicating technical concepts and ideas to non-technical audiences.

  • Organizing and maintaining research records, files and materials.

  • Using computer modeling techniques.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

Education/Previous Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Licenses/Certifications

  • None required immediately; ability to obtain SIE, FINRA Series 7, 52, and 66 within one year of hire.
